GEC Sponsors Essay Contest for High School

Grundy Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce it will again sponsor the
Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience (CYCLE) Program for area high juniors to be held July 2009 in Jefferson City. Three high school juniors who reside within the Cooperative’s service territory will have the opportunity to attend the conference.
The three-day conference brings together some of the brightest young leaders from across Missouri. The focus is to teach students more about electric cooperatives, enhance leadership skills and experience Missouri state government.
The program includes nationally known speakers and a day at the state Capitol. There is also time for some fun things like an outdoor
barbecue and team competitions in various events such as the “Build a
Cooperative” game
Eligibility: The contest is open to any current high school junior attending a school located in one of the 12 counties served by Grundy Electric.
Essay Requirements: Each contestant is required to submit a typewritten double-spaced essay of at least 1000 words in length. The
essay must be original, show subject knowledge, with correct grammar and be neat in appearance.
Essay Title: The title for this year’s essay is “Our Energy, Our Future”.
Deadline:
All essays must be received no later that March 2, 2009. Essays must be mailed or delivered to Attention: Peggy Boulware, Grundy Electric Cooperative, 4100 Oklahoma Ave, Trenton, Missouri, 64683.
